Author Information Kathleen Dechant, Ed.D. teaches organizational behavior, leadership and interpersonal
dynamics, and career development in the M.B.A. program at the University of Connecticut,
Stamford. Prior to her academic appointment, she was vice president of employee
development with a major New York-based financial services firm, where she helped
introduce an organization-wide culture change effort in support of the decentralization
and refocusing of strategy. Dr. Dechant received her Ed.D. in adult and higher education
from Columbia University in 1989. She was awarded an M.B.A. from the first Executive
M.B.A. program at Pace University in 1980. Dr. Dechant is an associate editor for The
Academy of Management Executive. She has authored articles on culture change and learning
from experience.
