New Coaching Program Reduces
Turnover
by Building Relationships
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (November 6, 2006) — Employees who view their leaders as ineffective coaches are more likely to leave their jobs than workers who believe their leader is a good coach. CoachingAchievement™, a new training program from HRDQ, offers a powerful tool for retention. The one-day session provides leaders with a coaching method focusing on skills and actions that develop and preserve healthy coaching relationships.
“We developed a simple model for coaches to implement at any time, not just formal coaching meetings,” said Barbara Roadcap,
former HRDQ Vice President of Publishing.
“Coaching takes many forms in organizations,” Roadcap added. “It’s not limited to the actual moment of the coaching conversation but includes the evaluation of a coaching need and follow-through.”
With an experiential format, CoachingAchievement gives coaches a forum to assess their performance in 5 key skill areas and practice applying the skills in a 3-step coaching process. Coaches use actual workplace challenges and role-play during the program, allowing them to gain the ability and confidence to put knowledge into action as soon as they return to the job.
“CoachingAchievement is a fun learning experience for people who need to coach,” said Gary Turner, President of Texas-based Turner Consulting, and one of the program’s developers. “The activities, model, exercises, and reflection are memorable. Overall, the program leaves people with practical tools to start coaching immediately.”
To give facilitators complete preparation in delivering CoachingAchievement, HRDQ offers convenient phone-based certification. The Distance Certification process provides personalized one-to-one consultation with an HRDQ facilitator combined with self-study and skill practice. One fee includes the consultation, Facilitator Guide, program support materials, and 10 Participant Guides. For a limited time, facilitators who schedule their Distance Certification sessions will receive a 20% discount on additional Participant Guides.
