Press Release for:
Building the Communication Bridge
&
Supervising with Confidence
Two New Programs
Offer Turnkey Communication and Supervisory Training
Two new
experiential one-day programs offer a mix of proven training tools –– and
an effective solution for trainers. The programs –– Building the
Communication Bridge and Supervising with Confidence –– include
everything facilitators need to run a session that balances
presentation with personal reflection and group participation.
“Communication and
supervising are two of our most popular training topics,” said
Barbara Roadcap, former HRDQ Vice President of Publishing. “There’s a
lot of ground to cover with both subjects. And, since busy trainers
don’t have the time or resources to create an entire workshop
themselves, we realized we could fulfill an important need for
them.”
Building the
Communication Bridge helps individuals throughout an organization
learn the essential speaking and listening skills for effective
face-to-face conversations. Participants identify personal styles of
communication, develop strategies for communicating with people of
different styles, learn about the behaviors that distinguish
receptive listeners, determine which listening behaviors are linked
to the different styles, and recognize how to use speaking and
listening skills in a variety of situations.
Supervising with
Confidence teaches individuals the fundamentals of effective
supervising. Participants learn to differentiate between effective
and ineffective supervisors, gain insight on the role of a
supervisor, define 5 fundamental supervisory skills, and learn how
to use the 5 skills on the job. The workshop provides a comfortable
atmosphere where new or intermediate-level supervisors can practice
strategies within each of the skill areas:
Guiding the Work,
Organizing the Work, Developing Your Staff, Managing Performance,
and Managing Relations. Designed to adapt to time constraints, each
HRDQ Program can be presented in one day or two half-days.
The comprehensive
Facilitator Guides for each program include reusable support
materials as well as the assessments, games, simulations, and
activities related to each workshop. Each comes with a CD-ROM,
containing a Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation and reproducible
masters. Participant Guides include pressure-sensitive response
forms, the corresponding assessments, interpretive information,
self-reflection and skill practice activities, as well as action
planning.
