New Case-Study Collection Simplifies Program Design

Most trainers know the value of using case studies to illustrate and reinforce new concepts and ideas. Finding just the right study, though, isn't always easy - and trainers often don't have the time to develop their own.

Compact Cases is a new, reproducible collection of 44 case studies that cover a wide variety of training topics, including leadership, team building, communication, negotiation, change management, and conflict. Some of the cases consist of role plays; others present brief, realistic scenarios with believable characters. All illustrate organizational problems that require change and improvement. Developed by Dr. Rollin Glaser Ed.D., Compact Cases is available only through the HRDQ catalog.

As the collection's name implies, these cases are short, focused, and to the point - and offer several distinct advantages to trainers and their participants. "Longer case studies require a great deal of thought and preparation," says Dr. Glaser. "Compact cases focus on a few important learning points, can be prepared by participants while the session is underway, and require less time to understand and discuss."

Bound in a single, 3-ring binder, Compact Cases are tabbed by topic so that trainers can simply remove and photocopy the pages they need for each session. In addition, an introductory section offers suggestions on how and when to use the cases. The product is also packaged with a 3.5" disk (PC or MAC), so trainers can modify settings, dramatic details, or character names for any case in the selection. Participant pages are provided in ASCII and RTF text formats for use with most popular word processing programs.

"I've used and refined these cases in my own training programs for years, so I know that they are reliable and easy to use," says Dr. Glaser. "Whether you use them as discussion starters in an in-depth workshop or as the focal point of a team meeting, I think you'll find them ideal for many types of organizational learning."

Compact Cases is available exclusively from HRDQ. If you wish to receive more information about the instrument or any of HRDQ’s other products and services, please contact our marketing team, via e-mail at news@hrdq.com or via telephone at 800.633.4533.
