HRDQ Rolls Out New Assessment That Couples Leadership with Management
Demonstrating the training industry's
growing acknowledgement of the connection between capable management and financial acumen,
learning resources provider HRDQ (King of Prussia, PA) has released a new
assessment tool for managers designed to help them target their weak areas.
Called Leader-Manager Profile, the self-assessment tool consist
of 36 questions, half focused on leadership issues and the other half on management.
Examples of the types of things managers are asked to self-rate include their
communication of the organization's direction, their ability to inspire others, the way in
which they reinforce performance and how well they direct their operations.
James Eicher, author of the product and senior associate at consulting
firm Booz, Allen & Hamilton (McLean, VA), told LLMR he believes the entire training
industry is beginning to accept that "soft skills aren't so soft anymore," and
is recognizing that even managers that have developed great business strategies can't
always execute them properly.
"They realize that they have great technical skills and everybody has access to great
technology, but that's not what's really impacting the bottom line. People are the
variable that's left." Eicher said that in
addition to HRDQ clients, he plans to use the assessments with his
Booz,
Allen & Hamilton customer base.
