| What's My Time Style?
|
|
We all have our own style of managing time, which is expressed in everything we do, from beginning new projects to managing multiple tasks to arranging personal workspace. While traditional time-management systems take a one-size-fits-all approach, What’s My Time Style? helps people identify their own personal time style and learn how to make that style work for them rather than against them.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify preference for one of 4 time management styles: Direct, Spirited, Considerate, or Systematic
- Learn how to capitalize on strengths and overcome the trouble spots of their styles
- Learn how to interact effectively with other styles
Theory
What’s My Time Style? and the other titles in the HRDQ Style Series™ are based on the well-known research and personality theories of psychologists Carl Jung, William Moulton Marston, and others. Most research has identified two basic dimensions of style, which we refer to as assertiveness and expressiveness. Assertiveness is the effort a person makes to influence or control the thoughts or actions of others. Expressiveness is the effort that a person makes to control his or her emotions and feelings when relating to others.
How It Works
What’s My Time Style? is available in both
e-Assessment and paper-based formats. Both versions can be self-administered and self-scored. Individuals are asked to respond to 21 statements. Results reveal a preference for one of 4 personal time-management styles. Response time typically takes 10-15 minutes. Scoring of the paper version takes approximately 5 minutes, and scoring of the
e-Assessment version is automatic.
Both the paper-based and e-Assessment versions include the potential strengths and trouble spots of each style and a quick guide to each style’s time management behaviors. Tips and action planning questions help individuals to capitalize on their styles and improve their time management. The
e-Assessment version provides a personalized, full-color report (view sample).
